Hello all, today we are taking a look back at a farmers porch project in Spencer MA. This project involved removing the old uncovered front entry steps with a beautiful covered farmers porch to create a new space for family hangouts. This standard two story colonial home was given a unique farmhouse look with the addition of a 8ft wide porch that extended the span of the house.
Here is a look at the front of the house before constructing of the farmers porch. With the front facing the western sky, the idea was to have a place to hangout and see the sunsets. The first few rows of siding have been removed for the installation of a ledger board. This is the crucial piece that holds the porch securely to the home.
The goal for this build was to make the porch look like it was originally intended for this home. Composite decking, railings, and ceiling panels where used to ensure longevity and durability. Recess lights where installed to provide adequate lighting for night time porch sitting and a wow factor road side view.
